In keeping with her commitment to shift the spirit of leadership, Marilynn focuses on working with clients with this same passion. Her clients include health care leaders at all levels, emerging health care leaders, health care consultants, health care professionals, quality and safety leaders, educational and financial professionals and Aboriginal leaders.


 

Professional Highlights

A registered nurse by profession, Marilynn spent the majority of her 35 years in healthcare working in the field of Neonatal Intensive Care. Her passion for providing excellence in care for premature and ill infants fuelled her work as a bedside nurse through to the variety of leadership roles she held over the years.

 


Motivated by her passion for leadership and desire to improve the healthcare system, she achieved a number of significant successes which included the implementation of a new nursing leadership structure, the introduction of a coaching culture within the nursing system within her department, the implementation of a groundbreaking Quality & Safety program, and a decrease in out of province patient transfers through the successful establishment of a patient flow coordinator role.

 


With a deep-seated love for teaching and mentoring, Marilynn is a co-author as well as co-faculty of the Rising Leaders Program, Associate Faculty in the School of Leadership Studies at Royal Roads University, and is an active participant in the Canadian College of Health Care Leaders mentorship program. She is also a volunteer coach for the Minerva Women Helping Women Program..


Joy and satisfaction received from mentoring and coaching colleagues brought Marilynn to the coaching profession in 2010 and, inspired by her belief in opportunities, she launched her own business in 2011 and is discovering a whole new world of possibilities!

 

 

Credentials

Marilynn holds a Diploma in Nursing from the Royal Columbian Hospital School of Nursing; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of British Columbia; a Master’s degree in Leadership & Training, and Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University.  She has ACC accreditation from the International Coaching Federation, and is a certified EQ-I 2.0, EQ 360 practitioner.

An avid gardener, she dotes on her bed of tea roses and plants at least 200 bulbs every fall just for fun and the joy of seeing the glorious display every spring!  A lifelong learner, and constant seeker of increased self-awareness, she loves to read and has at least three books on the go at any one time.
